FIRE SAFETY

We have been learning about some important fire messages.  We have learnt what to do if we catch on fire.  We have learnt what to do if we are in a building that is on fire.  We know not to play with lighters or matches. 

The FireWise Show came to Waioneke School.  We watched the puppets and listened carefully to the safety messages.  The Shelly Beach Firebrigade visited us at school.  We saw all the equipment that the Fire Engines carry.  We even heard the siren and horn.  The firefighters showed us their firefighting uniforms and also gave us some fire safety messages.

We all have a safe meeting place at our homes just incase our houses catch on fire.  We all know that the safe meeting place at school is on the bottom field.  We walk to the meeting place and listen for our name.  We know to say, "yes" in a loud voice and raise our hand so the teacher can see where we are.  We also know that it is important not to talk so the teacher can hear other children answering their names.

BRIGHT SMILES

We have been learning how to take care of our teeth. We now know when to brush our teeth and why. We all were given new tooth brushes and tooth paste. We all practised the correct way to clean our teeth.

OUR CATERPILLAR

We have a caterpillar in our room.  It is very cold outside so we have brought him in from the garden to keep him warm.  He eats swan plant.  Soon he will turn into a crysalis.  When he is ready he will turn into a beautiful butterfly.

A PIGLET COMES TO SCHOOL

We had a small piglet visit our class. The piglet could not stand up because he had not had enough milk from his mother. He is now drinking milk from a bottle. He was very soft and warm and could make a lot of noise. We all sat in a circle and took turns at patting him.
